Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This policy explains what information the ClearReceipt app (“ClearReceipt”, “the app”, “we”) handles, where it goes and the choices you have. ClearReceipt is provided by [DEVELOPER OR COMPANY NAME].
The short version
- Your receipts are read and stored on your phone. We do not run a server that receives your receipts.
- If you connect Google, copies go to your own Google Drive and Google Sheets, and nowhere else.
- An account is optional. If you create one, we store your email address and name to sign you in.
- We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking, and we do not sell your data.
1. Receipts and the information on them
When you scan or import a receipt, the app keeps the photo and the details read from it (such as merchant, date, amounts, tax, category, payment method and any property or note you add) in the app’s private storage on your device.
Text on the receipt is read on your device by Google’s ML Kit text recognition library. Receipt images and their text are not sent to us or to Google for this. As part of its normal operation, ML Kit may send Google limited diagnostic information, such as the device model, operating system and app version, and performance metrics of the library. It does not include your receipts. See Google’s ML Kit terms for details.
On Android, the app’s data is excluded from device backups. Uninstalling the app deletes the receipts stored on the device.
2. Google Drive and Google Sheets (optional)
If you choose to connect your Google account, the app uses it to:
- upload each receipt photo to a ClearReceipt folder in your Google Drive, and
- add a row with the receipt’s details to a yearly ClearReceipt spreadsheet in your Google Sheets.
The app requests only the drive.file permission. With it, the app can open and change only the files and folders it created itself. It cannot see or change any other files in your Drive. Your receipts travel directly from your device to Google; they do not pass through any server of ours.
You can disconnect Google in the app’s Settings at any time, and revoke access in your Google account settings. Files already in your Drive and Sheets stay there and remain yours.
ClearReceipt’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. Your ClearReceipt account (optional)
You can use the app without an account. Signing in is only needed to use a Pro subscription on more than one device. You can sign in with Apple (on iPhone) or with Google. There is no separate ClearReceipt password.
If you sign in, we store your account with our authentication provider, Supabase: a user ID, your email address and your name (if your sign-in provider shares it). We use this only to sign you in and to link your subscription to your account. Your receipts are never sent to Supabase.
You can delete your account in the app’s Settings. This permanently deletes your account; receipts on your device and in your Google Drive are not affected.
4. Subscriptions and payments
Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card or payment details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives the purchase records from the store and an identifier for you: a random ID, or your account ID if you are signed in. The app also keeps a count of the receipts you saved in the last 7 days on your device, to apply the free plan’s weekly limit.
5. What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising or tracking identifiers.
- No analytics or usage tracking added by us.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your personal information for marketing.
- No artificial intelligence or cloud services reading your receipts.
6. Service providers
We rely on these providers only for the purposes described above:
- Google: ML Kit on-device text recognition, Google Sign-In, and Google Drive and Sheets when you connect them
- Supabase: account sign-in, if you create an account
- RevenueCat: subscription status
- Apple and Google: app stores and payments
7. Keeping and deleting your information
- Receipts on your device: kept until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app.
- Copies in your Google Drive and Sheets: kept in your Google account until you delete them there.
- Your account: kept until you delete it in the app’s Settings.
- Subscription records: kept by the app stores and RevenueCat as needed to manage your subscription and meet legal obligations.
8. Security
Receipts are stored in storage that only the app can access. Connections to Google, Supabase and RevenueCat use encryption in transit (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what leaves your device to what is described in this policy.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or to object to how it is used. Most of this you can do directly in the app: edit or delete receipts, export them as CSV or PDF, disconnect Google, and delete your account. For anything else, contact us at the address below.
10. Children
ClearReceipt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also let you know in the app.
